Overview

STRN ("the App") is a strength training tracker built with an offline-first architecture. Your workout data is stored locally on your device. We do not require registration, and we do not collect your name, email, or any contact information.

Data stored on your device

All fitness data you enter is stored locally in a database on your device:

  • Workout sessions (exercises, sets, reps, weight, duration, notes, ratings)
  • Exercise library (including custom exercises you create)
  • Workout templates and training programs
  • Body weight log and body measurements
  • Personal records
  • App preferences (theme, language, units, rest timer duration, height)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it using the built-in export feature. There is no cloud sync, no server-side storage, and no account system.

Device identifier

The App generates a random anonymous identifier (UUID) on first launch. This identifier is stored locally and is used internally to tag your data. It is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics. This helps us understand which features are used and improve the App. Analytics data is sent to PostHog's EU servers (eu.i.posthog.com).

What we collect

  • Feature usage events (e.g. "workout started", "exercise added") — no actual workout content
  • Aggregated counts (number of sets, exercises per session, workout duration in minutes)
  • Screen navigation
  • The anonymous device UUID described above
  • Approximate location (city and country) — derived from your IP address by PostHog's servers, not from GPS or device location services

What we do NOT collect

  • Exercise names, workout notes, or any text you enter
  • Actual weight lifted, body weight, or body measurements
  • Your name, email, phone number, or any contact information
  • Precise location (GPS, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth-based)
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, GAID, etc.)

Landing page analytics

This website uses Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymous page view data (page URL, referrer, country). No cookies are used. See the Vercel Analytics Privacy Policy.

Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions:

  • Internet — required for sending anonymous analytics
  • Notifications — used for rest timer alerts (local only, no push notifications from a server)
  • Vibration — haptic feedback during workouts

The App does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, or health data.

Data export and deletion

You can export all your data as a JSON file at any time from the App's Settings screen. You can also delete all data from the same screen. Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered — there are no server-side backups.

Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • PostHog — anonymous usage analytics (EU servers)
  • Vercel Analytics — anonymous website analytics (this landing page only)

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any other third parties.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
